Words. I'm a fan—definitions, spelling, grammar, and the way they fit together to tell a story. In what feels like a lifetime ago, I worked as a speech-language pathologist. I didn't mind working with articulation errors and phonological processes, but the aspect I loved most was teaching, guiding, and working through expressive and receptive language skills with those kiddos. The best part of teaching and interacting with my own children has been watching the process of learning to read, guiding them through spoken language, learning new words, and being able to help expand their ever-growing vocabulary.
I didn't truly realize until about a year and a half ago how much I enjoy the written word. More specifically, I love the process of getting words out of my head and onto paper in order to convey something.
Throughout the writing of my first book (a family memoir of sorts), I was able to process a lot of difficult emotions, relive some wonderful memories, and regain some perspective. I pray that book can serve others in a similar way. More on that in another post someday.
My second book (a devotional) allowed me to encourage some discipline in my own life in an area in which I've sorely needed just that for a long time. It was a project I thoroughly enjoyed working on, and I hope it can set a foundation or re-kindle a habit in others through its use. Also another post for another day, I suppose.

I'm new to website-y kind of stuff, but I've done a little blogging before. It ended up being hit-or-miss and there was a long gap where I wrote nothing. I'm glad I was able to import that old stuff over here.
I plan to use this space to posts bits of my writing and share current and future projects.
It's nice to meet you, and I hope you stick around. :)
